RIO TIGRE TO SWIMMING POOLS

Located in Dos Brazo

This hike follows the Rio Tigre through a pristine rainforest corridor, leading to a series of secluded natural swimming pools. Along the way, you’ll navigate through jungle trails and occasionally walk along the riverbed, surrounded by towering trees and the sounds of rushing water. The pools themselves are a highlight—cool, clear waters set against a backdrop of lush greenery and smooth river stones. The hike also offers opportunities to spot local wildlife, such as dart frogs, basilisk lizards, and an array of colorful birds.

This moderate trek is refreshing, adventurous, and perfect for those who enjoy swimming in nature.

Notes: This hike involves some water crossings, so waterproof gear may be recommended. Transport fees, if required, would cost an additional $15–$25 per person. And you must bring anything you want to drink and eat on the experience.

MAGICAL MOGOS HIKING

Located in Mogos

The Magical Mogos Waterfalls are found within the biological corridors linking the Corcovado National Park, Piedras Blancas National Park, and the Terraba-Sierpe National Wetlands in the Osa Peninsula. This vast biological corridor, which encompasses the Golfo Dulce region, serves as a crucial habitat for a diverse array of wildlife species. The hike leads to cascading waterfalls over a rocky cliff, that plunges into a serene pool, perfect for swimming or simply enjoying the cool mist. RIO NUEVO WILDLIFE RESERVE

Located in 20 mins from Puerto Jimenez

Your certified naturalist guide will take you to one of the most remote and unexplored areas in the Osa Peninsula. BioSur Foundation’s Río Nuevo Nature Reserve preserves an ancient primary tropical rainforest, surrounded by giant trees over 40m tall and plants considered living fossils. During the expedition, it is possible to observe a large number of birds and mammals, many in danger of extinction.

This expedition will take you through rivers, ravines, and mountains where you will admire and contemplate the natural wealth of Río Nuevo Nature Reserve. During the expedition, you will see ancient trees and plants and the forest floor and canopy will be teaming with wildlife and astonishing creatures. At the end of the expedition, you can relax in the refreshing waters of the Río Nuevo and take a blue clay bath. This expedition is for all ages.

The hike is moderate, with a mix of flat sections and some steeper climbs, making it a rewarding adventure for those seeking a balance of challenge and relaxation.

RIO PIRO RESERVE

Located in 50 mins from Puerto Jimenez

The Rio Piro Reserve Hike offers an immersive journey into the wild, untamed rainforest of the Osa Peninsula. This trail winds through dense primary and secondary forests. The Piro Reserve boasts an extensive trail network and abundant wildlife, including some of the largest and oldest trees on the Osa Peninsula, as well as large populations of endangered animals. Additionally, the tour focuses on the small wonders of the tropical rainforest, such as the helicopter damselfly, metallic blue and green orchid bees, the hourglass frog, and the glass-winged butterfly. By exploring the complex and interconnected relationships between plants and animals, such as the acacia ant’s defense of the bull-horned acacia tree, we uncover the mysteries of the forest and its incredible biodiversity.

To cap off the tour, we enjoy a picnic lunch overlooking the unique rock outcroppings on Piro Beach. We explore the tide pools and admire the uninhabited coastline, listening to the sounds of the large ocean waves crashing against the nearby rocks. making it a perfect mix of jungle and coastal landscapes.
