Cross the Osa Peninsula on foot in one of the region’s most challenging and immersive hiking adventures.
Beginning in the remote rainforest of La Tarde, this multi-day expedition travels through the Los Patos sector and deep into the heart of Corcovado National Park, reaching Sirena Biological Station. After two nights immersed in Corcovado’s extraordinary wildlife, the journey continues west toward La Leona before finishing along the wild Pacific coast at Carate.
This is not a conventional hiking tour. It is a true wilderness experience designed for experienced hikers who are comfortable with long days in remote rainforest.
The Journey
Day 1 — La Tarde
Travel from Puerto Jiménez to the remote La Tarde reserve. Settle into a rustic jungle lodge before an afternoon rainforest orientation hike and preparation for the crossing ahead.
Day 2 — The Great Crossing
Begin before sunrise and enter the rainforest through the Los Patos sector. Trek deep into Corcovado, covering approximately 25–30 km depending on conditions and routing, before reaching Sirena Biological Station.
Day 3 — In the Heart of Corcovado
Spend a full day exploring the Sirena area and its surrounding trails. Track wildlife through the rainforest and river basins, with opportunities to encounter tapirs, peccaries, monkeys, scarlet macaws, and countless other species.
Day 4 — Rainforest to Pacific
Leave Sirena and follow the route toward La Leona before continuing toward Carate. The landscape gradually changes from deep rainforest to coastal forest and Pacific beach, completing your cross-peninsula journey. A private 4×4 transfer returns you to Puerto Jiménez.

Take on the Osa Peninsula from the mountains to the sea in this challenging wilderness expedition.
Beginning in the El Tigre sector, the route climbs into rugged mountain terrain before descending toward the Pacific coast and continuing deep into the wilderness toward Sirena Biological Station.
After two nights immersed in the heart of Corcovado, choose between a challenging jungle trek toward Los Patos or a scenic coastal boat ride back to Puerto Jiménez.

The Journey
Day 1 — El Tigre Mountain Ridge to the Pacific
Travel from Puerto Jiménez into the El Tigre sector and begin the ascent into the rugged mountain ridge. Cross through remote forest and mountain terrain before descending toward the coastal region of Carate and La Leona. Overnight: La Leona Area Eco-Cabins
Day 2 — Coastal Route to Sirena
Continue along the Pacific coast, combining beach and coastal rainforest as you make your way toward Sirena Biological Station. The route moves deeper into the wilderness as the coastline and rainforest become your only surroundings. Overnight: Sirena Biological Station
Day 3 — The Heart of Corcovado
Spend a full day exploring the primary rainforest, river mouths, and surrounding trails of the Sirena area. With your guide, search for tapirs, peccaries, monkeys, scarlet macaws, and other wildlife that make Corcovado one of the world’s great rainforest destinations. Overnight: Sirena Biological Station
Day 4 — The Jungle Exit or Scenic Boat Ride
Choose how you want to finish the expedition.
Option A: 20 km jungle trek out to Los Patos Station.
Option B: Coastal boat ride back directly to Puerto Jiménez.
