Sea Turtle Nesting Tour

COPROT provides a remarkable opportunity to witness nesting turtles along the pristine beaches of the Osa Peninsula. The nesting season runs from August to January, with peak activity usually occurring in October and November. This unique experience allows you to stroll along the untamed shores at night, immersing yourself in the magic of nature as you observe a breathtaking phenomenon that has taken place long before humans arrived in the Osa.

- Experience: Take a walk out on to the beach at night to try and see female turtles coming out of the ocean to lay their eggs! A once in a lifetime experience that you will never forget. Take a walk on the nearby sea turtle nesting beaches at sunrise to look for newly laid nests, turtle tracks and hatching turtles! Take a tour of our sea turtle hatchery before heading back to our base camp.

EVERYDAY ADVENTURES
Tree Rappelling
Located in Matapalo
Longest operating outfitter on the Osa Peninsula, Everyday Adventures offers a great balance of tropical biology and extreme adventure. Whether top roped and climbing a massive strangler fig named Treebeard, rappelling over the 100’ King Louies waterfall or the combination of both, every outing is steeped in tropical biology. Guides are CPR/WFR trained and have a deep knowledge of the watersheds and trails of the southernmost point of Cabo Matapalo.

TREE CLIMBING ~ $75 per person
Scale the largest original jungle gym. You are top roped while climbing an enormous, user-friendly Strangler Fig, roughly 70 feet to a viewing roost 350 feet over the Golfo Dulce. Level of difficulty determined by the "root" you select (pun intended).
After exploring the lofty perch and view of the ocean, an exhilarating swing brings you safely back to the Earth.
River hikers/Sneakers. Bring camera, bottled water and binoculars.

RANCHO PIRO
Horse Riding Tours
Located in Rio Piro
Explore the enchanting Rio Piro Biological Area, where adventure awaits at every turn. As you venture through the heart of the primary rainforest, you’ll traverse lush trails filled with vibrant flora and fauna, immersing yourself in the sounds and sights of this biodiverse ecosystem. Cross pristine rivers that glisten under the sun and arrive at the secluded Pacific beach, a hidden gem that showcases the untouched beauty of the Osa Peninsula.

Rancho Piro Tour
- Experience: Horse back riding: The first adventure takes you through a scenic forest, covering approximately 1 kilometre to reach the beach and rocks. This tour lasts around 2 1/2 hours. The second tour heads from the ranch to a mesmerizing waterfall, encompassing a 3 1/2 hour journey.

LA PERICA GARDEN

Experience sloths in their natural habitat, protected by a local family on the Osa Peninsula Sloth Tour. This unique adventure began with the creation of a bird garden and a path for their grandmother, which led to the discovery of numerous sloths in the family’s gardens. The passion for planting and a desire to excel led Don Toño and his wife Nai, along with their seven children, to pursue their dream at the age of 37.
Now at the age of 74, Antonio proudly guides visitors through Finca de la Perica, sharing his knowledge of agriculture that he has practiced since childhood, as well as inspiring life stories. This tour is not only a chance to encounter these incredible creatures but also to learn about the agricultural culture that has helped make Costa Rica the country it is today.
