The Magical Mogos Waterfalls can be found within the biological corridors linking the Corcovado National Park, Piedras Blancas National Park, and the Terraba-Sierpe National Wetlands in the Osa Peninsula. This vast biological corridor, which encompasses the Golfo Dulce region, serves as a crucial habitat for a diverse array of wildlife species.
The Magical Mogos Waterfalls opened their doors to visitors on December 15th, 2022, providing a unique and refreshing experience for tourists exploring the Osa Peninsula. These waterfalls are fed by natural springs and offer a one-of-a-kind adventure that cannot be found elsewhere in the area. Even during the driest months, visitors can still enjoy the cool and refreshing waterfalls and natural rainforest pools as the water cascades down the smooth rock surface.
Upon entering the falls, visitors will be awed by the towering rainforest trees, with sunlight streaming through the canopy, reflecting off the immense falls. The sight of an iridescent blue morpho fluttering on the edge of the mist is almost guaranteed. Whether swimming or standing in the waterfall’s pools, visitors will feel the life-giving power of the falls, which truly enhances one’s life. This unique tour offers a glimpse into a simpler time, where nature has created a magical experience for all to enjoy.

Waterfall tours will run 3-4 hours starting from from 8am or an optional afternoon tour at 2pm.
Fully booked private tours can be designed around the needs of the group.
Price will vary depending on the makeup of the tour; with horseback ride to and from the falls, a Mogos host, experienced Mogos horsemen, access to the waterfalls, fresh fruits, and use of the facilities on the property, with an optional Mogos style barbecue.
So you can choose – Horseback Riding or Hiking in, Lunch Mogos Style or Snack, but all will include the magic of the Mogos Waterfalls.

The MAGICAL MOGOS WATERFALL TOUR
Start Time: 8am
Meeting Place: Mirador de Osa at 8am. (53Kms from Puerto Jimenez / 18kms from Chacarita)
This tour of the Magic of Mogos starts at 8am at Hotel Mirador de Osa on the main road on the Osa Peninsula. The tour can be either done on foot or by horseback.
The Magical Mogos Experience is a tour that can be tailor to the needs of a private group or can be organized with several different groups. Lodges can send their groups (minimum of 2 guests) with their guide or Mogos will provide a host. Independent guides can bring their own groups (minimum of 2 guests). All tours will be fully supported by the Mogos staff onsite.
There will be horsemen, who grew up working on the property, that will be responsible for the horses (for the horseback option) and assists the guides with their groups. These horsemen know the secretes of Mogos.

Immerse yourself in the natural wonders of Mogos on the Osa Peninsula, where the rhythmic harmony of horse and rider blends seamlessly with the enchantment of the Magic of Mogos, creating unforgettable memories in this haven of tranquility and beauty.
The Waterfall Tour Itinerary:
Choose between:
Horseback ride to and from the waterfalls 15-20 mins each way. It’s a nice flat trail with two crossings at small creeks. Fresh fruits will be offered.
OR
Nature hike to the waterfalls 25-30 mins. Fresh fruits will be offered.
THEN
Play at the Mogos Waterfalls and its surroundings:
- Large covered pavilion at waterfall site is complete with a kitchen, restroom, sink, picnic area and covered grilling area.
- There are 5 waterfalls on two levels in this base-area of the falls for swimmingin the natural pools and a creek that flows below the pavilion area which splits feeding both the Golfo Dulce and the Sierpe wetlands.
- There are several trails in and around the waterfalls.
- There will be some fresh fruits provided on the tour.
PLUS YOU CAN ADD
Lunch Mogos Style at the waterfalls (optional and must be reserved ahead of the tour).
Cookout at waterfall including a yummy taste of Costa Rican food at our outdoor covered barbecue grill. Specific meals upon request vegan /vegetarian.

OUR BIOLOGICAL CORRIDOR
Located off the main road that runs from Chacarita to Puerto Jimenez, this rainforest neighborhood is enveloped by primary rainforest on the Osa Peninsula. The area serves as a crucial corridor linking the Corcovado National Park and Piedras Blancas National Park, providing essential forest and mangrove habitat for migratory birds and other wildlife. With close to 400 species recorded, the region is renowned as one of the best bird-watching locations in Costa Rica, including iconic species such as Scarlet Macaws, toucans, and parrots. Visitors can expect a unique birding experience due to the combination of birds from different habitats.
Jana Schulz, also known as ‘Jana of the Jungle,’ fell in love with the Magical Mogos Waterfalls during her first visit in 1996 and purchased the property in 2005. Over the years, Jana has hosted numerous local and foreign friends at the waterfalls, and all visitors have been astonished by the unique experience. Due to the positive feedback received, Jana decided to come out of retirement and share the wonder of the Magical Mogos Waterfalls with the public.
